There are not a lot of things now days that give you back in value a hell of a lot more than you paid for, a rare first edition in the second hand book shop priced at a couple of bucks, or maybe the ubiquitous Vincent Black Shadow gathering dust in a farmers shed and going for a song are no doubt still out there waiting to be discovered, but, not everyone is going to be that lucky. However, if you’re a biker and don’t mind dipping into your wallet for twenty bucks or so you are guaranteed to get value for money when you turn up at a Poker Run or Rally, and unfortunately, more and more, these events seem to be one of very few places left in our money hungry society where someone is not trying to put their hand in your pocket to rip you off at every opportunity. Thunderwest, hosted by the VVMC NSW Chapter, proved again this year to be no exception to the rule and I doubt anyone can disagree that what you got for your entry fee was one of the best value weekends around. When you work it out, for your money throughout the day you got, Four bands, Burnout comp, Show and Shine, Wet T-shirt comp, Tattoo comp, Exotic Dancers, Traders stalls, a raffle, plenty of room for your tent or swag, reasonably priced food and grog, a chance to win some damn good trophies, and a few hundred like minded people to enjoy it all with. Now, maths wasn’t my forte at school, but I reckon that works out at about two dollars each for all of the above, and, even if you weren’t into music that weekend, the late night session with Angry Anderson, Retro Rockets, Love that Hat and a couple of other muso’s all on the stage together was bloody good entertainment, and was not the sort of thing that you are ever likely to get to see for only a couple of bucks, unless of course they do it again next year at Thunderwest. |
| Congratulations to the Vets for putting on another top class event, and, if you haven’t been to Thunderwest before, hey, it’s on again next year and there’s a spot reserved for you right at the front of the stage. |
