I think it would not be far off the mark to say that the only whinge about this run was the name of the muster point being Wingen, with a turn-up of 50 plus bikes, a well thought out route with very little traffic, good tucker for lunch and a glorious early autumn day to do it all in, plus, chuck in a lot of laughing and joking with old mates and meeting like minded people, who, although seeing them for the first time, it feels like you have known them forever, well, I reckon you would have to go a long way to find anything better than being a biker in the company of other bikers. The Dice Run took us along roads that offered a bit of everything to suit both the bikes and their riders skills if they wanted to let the hair down a bit, or maybe just cruise along enjoying the scenery, whilst en-route, we made our stops at various biker friendly pubs to roll the dice and also took a short break at Chaffey Dam. Add to that, the chance of getting a bit of an extra bonus for the day due to about 30 prizes being raffled on the way, meant there seemed to be something for everyone, even if it was only to laugh along with the hulking great bloke that twice won himself a little tote bag to enhance his wardrobe. Arriving at the final stop at Walcha, the riders that were staying overnight dispersed to find the rooms they had booked in town before returning for the night’s entertainment, whilst others, including myself, headed back home more than satisfied after another good days riding. |
| From all accounts the night went well and was a fitting end to a great Dice Run, now winners are grinners and with a prize of $200 for the lowest total going to Rossco, giving him something to put in his aforementioned tote bags, and, with another $250 for the highest total going to Denise, it’s quite possible that we may well see a couple of new shiny additions to her Kawasaki Zephyr on the next run. |
In closing, a special vote of thanks to Gina who never looked like stopping all day scrounging prizes and selling tickets etc, also, all the Slopes and Plains members who put in a huge effort ensuring we had a safe and enjoyable ride, and, last but not least, thanks to the riders who took part on the day, because, it’s people like you that make our lifestyle what it is. Thanks to Gina, Wagga and Duds for their photos. Ride safe and see you on the next AMC Slopes and Plains Dice Run. |
