| There’s no doubt when Sharon finally succumbed in her battle with cancer that the Australian biker fraternity lost one of its most unassuming ambassadors, Sharon’s riding skills had been honed over the years to a point where she simply appeared to be an integral part of the bike, and, to the observer, she made riding one look so easy. I reckon this probably encouraged and led to more women riding their own bikes than a thousand glossy Harley Davidson brochures had ever done, plus, when you combine that with her mechanical ability and vast knowledge of motorcycles, well, to be perfectly honest, you would have to go a long way to find someone who could hold a torch to Sharon. |
| Needless to say, I am very proud that I had the privilege to ride through some of this vast country of ours in her company, and will hold fond memories of things unusual or funny that happened on the road during those days for the rest of my life, undoubtedly this sentiment would certainly be echoed by a large number of the people attending the funeral, as I know that they too, have at some time ridden with and seen firsthand the personality that made Sharon who she was. Sharon may have left us physically but her legacy lives on in the people she influenced and introduced to riding, and, most importantly for those of us who knew her as a friend, Sharon will live on in a place within our hearts reserved for very special people. |
As a bit of a postscript, I reckon Heaven is going to be a little bit noisier from now on, because, no doubt by now Sharon has teamed back up with Metho Tom and they are flat out selling Harley’s to everyone up there. RIP Sharon, we're gonna miss you. |
