Tamworth Country Music Festival 2007
Thursday
Rob and I left for Tamworth, being the school holidays it was a slow trip up, lots of cops, passed two on bikes and 2 lots of RBT's. I was tail gated from Scone to Tamworth by a female cop. She pulls up at the Mobil service station just out Tamworth, I said "G'day", we both agreed it was hot, but a nice day for a ride, she said "enjoy your stay in Tamworth" (that's a change).
Got to Lloyds and had a great BBQ with a few of our local chapter members.
Friday
We loaded up the ute's and went and did the shopping for our weekend food and drink supply. Over to the shed for the final set up with beds and bar and then we settled in to wait for the new arrivals. Thanks to the ½ dozen or so members from the Central Coast chapter that turned up. All together around 25-30 members from Central Coast and Slopes and Plains chapters.
Coops, Karen & Monica helped out with the HOG fundraiser charity rides and the rest of us went down town for music entertainment and pub crawling. We all met up at the shed later in the afternoon to clean ourselves up and get ready for another big night out in town. Yee Haw!!!!!!!!! Reg, Eddy and Telstra Jeff from Bikers Australia arrived just in time to join us.
What a night, all of us in the Fitzroy pub, the live music was great and got better as the night wore on, the more drinks the more we partied and danced. Partied into Garry & Sharon from Tamworth HOG, great to see you guys. It was a licorice allsorts night with us meeting so many different people. Jeffro was showing off his new koala tattoo, on his belly, we had to take him home come closing; it was getting embarrassing, so back to the shed for more partying.
We had a bit of fun with Jeffro, I'd bought this cool soap in the main street earlier on and it looked and smelt like caramel mud cake, I offered him a piece and he took a huge bite, said it tasted a bit plastic, so had another taste to be sure, by this time I had let the others in on it poor Jeffro (whose new name is Bubbles) spitting and drinking and spitting and drinking trying to wash the taste out, he was blowing bubbles out the bum of that new koala tatt, that'll teach him to trust me, but laugh we sure did, the last ½ dozen of us called it quits at 4:30am.
Saturday
Good onya Russell, a great cooked brekkie and to show our appreciation, us girls cleaned up. We sat and waited for the street parade to start and it passed right in front of our camp at the shed as I took a few photos's of some floats I was asked to be a marshal, so of course I took the honor on. We were given yellow and orange work vest's and hat's, I liked my own hat better so I wore it. I didn't know we were escorting one of the country singers that won "something" with a recording company that takes on the singers. Shaza and Leigh and Lindsey Butler??? As we turned the corner to where all our group was, all you could hear over the music was "SHOW US YOUR TITS" ...so I didn't! Thanks to Les for running out in the middle of the parade and squirting my bosom with cold water from a spray bottle, it was very refreshing. Tamworth in January is stinking hot so after the 2km parade and then walking back to the shed it was time for a nanna nap. Walking? So the reports flooding in about Camel Lady being brought back in the local bag lady's shopping trolley aren't true? ED
Some were doing the music, pub crawl thing again, and some of us were just resting when Rossco returned, I offered him a piece of "mud cake", needless to say I found myself running for my life while Rossco huffed and puffed bubbles, had to be seen to be believed...and then along comes Cyclone, yep got him too, one of the best jokes of the weekend...I'm lucky to be alive...we had a great BBQ that evening with Lloyd cooking and Carmel supervising. After dinner a few of us headed back downtown to the Imperial for more music and partying where we ran into Dale from LTR. There was too much young music so back to the Fitzroy where we danced and caught up with some locals we had met the night before. One of them was a bush poet Crusty would have loved, and then back to the shed to finish off the night. Many thanks to Jeffro (Bubbles) for giving up his bed for a friend, you are a true gentleman.
Sunday
Up early for another great brekkie then packed up and said our goodbyes. Many thanks to Lloyd, Carmel and all the Slopes and Plains chapter members for their hospitality, thanks to the Central Coast AMC members and Bikers Australia members for their company.
A special thanks to John for the use of the "shed".
All of those who weren't able to make it this year you missed a really good weekend but there is always next year...see you then.
Love Camel Lady
