ThunderWest 2007

Well folks, this is going to be a rather short report, being due to the fact that I did not make it to the rally until late in the evening, however, I did, with vague promises of leaving something in my will for him, manage to con fellow Wildcat and eldest son Budge into going early, with the end result being that, he ended up doing all the legwork taking photos during the day, and I fortuitously arrived just in time to partake of the wet T-shirt comp and the lovely ladies doing their exotic dances.

As Budge’s photos show, all the usual crowd pleasing daytime events were there again this year. With a rally attendance nearing the nine hundred mark, by the time night fell, and the adult entertainment started, there was a huge mob, fully primed from the earlier bands and the usual bikers moderate consumption of liquid refreshments, lining the front of the stage to encourage the wet T-shirt entrants, Munzie, the guest emcee, must have thought the already considerable prize money was not enough and proceeded with his inimitable charm to elicit extra funds from the crowd, once again the generosity of bikers for anything charitable came to the fore and the prize money just about doubled, one gentleman even splurged out and bought the panties off one of the ladies, a kind selfless act worthy of praise I thought, as she could have caught her death of cold wearing them after they had got wet.

A musical interlude before the exotic dancers had Angry Anderson doing a guest appearance, I reckon he still puts on one hell of a show, and he was certainly a crowd pleaser, judging by the number of encores he had to do before handing the stage over to the ladies. As usual, it was another quality act that the crowd have come to expect from these regular ladies at Pearlbrook, and once again I don’t think anyone was disappointed with their show.

Four o’clock in the morning saw the last notes from the band and I finally got to hit the sack, three hours of sawing wood later it was time to drag myself out of the tent and head over to the clubhouse for a breakfast of egg and bacon rolls and a cuppa, prior to packing up and heading off.

As usual, another top class event hosted by the VVMC NSW Chapter, with the music provided by the V Dubs, Junk Yard Dogs, Sparx and Angry Anderson, plus the typical rally goer that attends this event, well, you couldn’t ask for much more.

   See you there next year.

Thank you to Budge for taking most of the photos in this report.
