Tom Browne's early departure was a sad day for the bike fraternity of Australia . His parting words of goodbye were written ; " Do not cry for my departure , feel close to me and keep talking to me. I shall love you from heaven , as I loved you on Earth " The funeral of Iconic "Metho Tom", was celebrated by family, friends and associates Saturday April 12th, 2008. A day that will be remembered by all. The proclaimed 'King of Blacktown' had moved on to greater challenges. Attendances were many and it was more a matter of 'who wasn't there'. Family and friends were supported in saying goodbye to Tom by most of the Country's significant M.C. clubs as well as numerous social clubs, those who Tom had ridden with, played with, drank with, party'd with, done business with and raced against but most of all those people who had been touched in some way by Tom during his short stay with us all. It was a Service befitting of the Man, serious in it's delivery but filled with warming eulogies from his immediate family and from the executives of his beloved club. .. |

From the Church to Tom's final resting place saw a cortège of significance. Hundreds of riders following Tom, dozens of vehicles behind, journeying to the final destination, that of Tom's burial place. This funeral was not so much out of the ordinary other than one that assisted all accept Tom's passing. There was music in keeping with the Man and there was both class and dignity in the proceedings. The truth came with Tom's lowering, the roses cast to his coffin, the attendance to the work of the earth by family and club. I left the moment feeling the loss of a mate but understanding that he was needed elsewhere. |
